Here’s an easy way to create 3D images – let somebody else to it for you!!!! Here for details.
Very difficult to ignore this device. Ideal for showing off your photography…it is creeping very quickly towards my ‘must have’ list.
PS…somebody has asked me to publish my ‘must have’ list. Hmmmmmmm – it includes a lot of donuts!
…and this gentleman attended the photo walk on Sunday for the first time but I forgot to take down contact details. So, please would you contact me here so I can add you to the list.
We will be organised……..one day!
I forgot, in my hurry to rush to press, to thank Jane Ford for suggesting and leading the Woodland Waters Photo Walk on Sunday – details of the walk here.
So, very many thanks Jane and looking forward to the next one. And please note the image this time isn’t in HDR. Is the one below any better?

Even more on yesterday’s Photo Walk.
Here’s one of our youngest Photo Walkers, Nikita, aged 12.
Nikita borrows my cameras and, quite rightly pointed out that some of the images shown on the Photo Walk post were taken by her!
And so, without further ado, I have adjusted the credits on the images here so Nikita is included. I stand corrected and admonished!
By the by, Nikita came to the UK with her parents, Tori and Ion, around 5-6 years ago and, at that time, she didn’t speak English. She is now top of her English class and on track for University. She is also taking some excellent photographs these days. Well done Nikita!
We really are trying to encourage young photographers like Nikita and her sister, Fernanda (below), aged 8, to come and join us. We ask that under 16s bring mum and dad with them on the Photo Walks.

Some questions in about the slideshow software I use on the site.
I use SlideShowPro which I think is just brilliant.
SlideShowPro comes in different flavours and is a bit scary at first but, once you get the hang of it, it is really impressive. To be honest I don’t use it to it’s full extent but, take a look here at somebody who does!
To get my slideshows into the blog here I use a WordPress plug-in called SlidePress which is, I think, owned by the same people who produce SlideShowPro.
If, like me, you’re not a computer wizard, there’s a bit of a learning curve to scramble up with these products but it’s worth it.
My son, Adam, is a paramedic on the Three Counties Air Ambulance helicopters and here (above) is a SlideShowPro slideshow showing the helicopters he flies in.
The SlideShow below comes from Animoto:
And the Image Matrix below here is another SlideShowPro plugin for WordPress called SSPDC.

Still with yesterday’s Photo Walk
People often ask me how the Photo Nomads got started. Well, the simple answer is it is all Gina Campbell’s fault (see her above at yesterday’s walk).
Gina is a Lakestore customer and a couple of years back she came in to see us with some printing work and we got talking about cameras, Photoshop and the rest and, before you know it, a group started to form as more Lakestore customers joined in. We then took up Photo Walks on the back of Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk and, before you knew it, the Photo Nomads came into being.
By the by, Gina specialises in school sports photographs. I’ll try to persuade her to let me push some of her images up onto this site.
The Photo Nomads is an extremely informal group but we always welcome new members. It doesn’t cost anything to join and the nearest thing we have to a membership list is the email distribution list (please contact me here if you would like to be added). We organise Photo Walks very roughly about once a month. We also have impromptu mini-Photo Walks which anyone can organise (we advertise them out here on this site so please stay tuned). We encourage all comers and also try to encourage wifes, partners, girlfriends, boyfriends and mistresses (all of whom might not be photographers) to come along just for the walk and enjoy the company. The walks generally last a couple of hours – just a bunch of photographers having fun with cameras.
And, a new thing, if anyone in any other part of the UK or the rest of the world for that matter, would like to organise a Photo Nomad Photo Walk, please let me know and I will push the details out here.
Simon flew in from Egypt just in time to join yesterday’s Photo Walk – and, with him, he brought what I thought was an excellent Manfrotto pistol grip head (you stick it on the top of your tripod which isn’t shown in the picture of Simon (above). I’d never seen one before.
I have to say it really is a useful bit of equipment and watching Simon work whilst I was struggling with my standard ball-head, made me realise that this pistol grip head might have to go on to the ‘must have’ list. It costs around £70 from various suppliers on the Internet. Simon got his from Ebay and I found this Ebay outlet selling them for £34.00 (please note I have no experience of this Ebay site).
By the by, the vivacious young lady in the background in the image above is Sandra. Her wolf hound, Boris (named after Boris Johnson?) is just out of shot.
First Attempt at the Blurry Tree Trick by Richard Broom (assisted by Dave Whistler) – please click on image to enlarge.
Dave Whistler was, on yesterday’s Photo Walk, sharing with me his technique for getting interesting effects by moving the camera whilst the shutter is open. After a bit of faffing around with camera settings I manage to get a few images but Dave’s images are much better. I’m hoping he might submit of few so we can show them here.
And by a spooky coincidence, the first picture on the photo walk slideshow is of Mr Dave Whistler.
PS…I massaged my image above with a bit of Topaz Adjust 4.
Where do they think up these designs and logos? You have to smile.
Slow posting last night. I was watching the new BBC series – The Wonders of the Solar System – some fantastic photography, imagery and presentation.
The BBC are pushing out some very interesting TV documentaries on BBC 3 and 4 these days.
The Boston Globe – the Big Picture here. Never fails to inspire.

Very many thanks to all those who took part in today’s well-attended Woodland Waters Water Park Photo Walk and thank you also to the Woodland Water Park for letting us wander around their beautiful park with our cameras rampant.
It was great weather today – clear, sunny – a bit cold perhaps but the light was excellent.
Stay tuned for news of the next Photo Walk. We might be springing a mini-Photo Walk at you this coming weekend – 10/11 March. Stay tuned!

Another tablet to take? Here for details. Much cheaper than an Ipad…..hmmmm.

I know at least two Photo Nomads and one Scot (if she is listening!) who will appreciate this!
A big welcome to visitors from the Lebanon. I’ve just noticed on our Flagcounter that our newest visiting country is the Lebanon. Welcome Lebanon!
I used to visit the Lebanon in my old job and the one thing that I remember about Beirut with absolute clarity was the friendliness of the people there and the most wonderful Lebanese/Arabic food that they prepared and served. It is no place for anyone watching their weight! Bring on the Baklava!!!!
A slightly twisted sense of humour? This infographic made me smile.
Reminds me of the Mexican riding a bike!
This is very good on all sorts of levels. Couldn’t help but smile. Just love the head camera!
Can this possibly be true? What a bargain. How come we missed this???
